Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

With participants from all over the country, conventions are a great opportunity to discuss your special interests with people you rarely see.

At Convention 2010 we will have a number of suitable meeting places but to avoid disappointment it will pay to let us know the following in advance:

• Who will convene the SIG meeting.
• The topic.
• Any preferred day or time.

While we can’t make any promises we will try our best to fit every request in.

It’s not too late to suggest a SIG and volunteer your services as facilitator. Please contact Brent O'Callahan brent.nik@paradise.net.nz.

What is a SIG?

SIGs can be about anything. They can be as broad as American Modelling or as narrow as Modelling the B&SCR in 2mm Scale (these are just examples, not actual 2010 SIGs).
SIGS are normally limited to 60 minutes.

How do SIGs operate?

You learn a SIG is on either from the printed programme or the notice board during the convention (one of the nice things about SIGs is that they can often be arranged at short notice).
Those interested gather at the appointed time and place, and simply begin discussing their interest. It helps if someone volunteers to facilitate so that everyone has a chance to speak or ask questions.
