NZAMRC model competitions + Convention 2010 novelty A3 layout competition

A3 layout competition

Convention 2010 is also sponsoring its own novelty layout competition.

This is intended as a bit of fun. It is not a part of the NZAMRC Competition and has a different aim.

We want people to build something they can be proud of, to maybe display at their local train show or just enjoy.

  • To enter you must be a registered at Convention 2010
  • You may submit as many entries as you like
  • Basically the idea is to build a layout or diorama no greater in area than an A3 sheet of paper (297mm x 420mm)—or any other shape of equivalent area (0.124740m2)
  • Entries can be any subject, any prototype and any scale—you choose
  • Entries should stand alone but could become part of a larger layout later
  • If your layout has cassettes, when connected these are considered part of the layout. The operative word is “connected”; you could, for example, move the same cassette to different positions

  • Entries will be on display for the duration of the convention
  • There is no legalistic scoring system, our international guest Iain Rice has agreed to judge the entries and his decisions will be final

There will be prizes for:

  • The best diorama
  • The best working layout
  • And a special award—Iain Rice’s Accolade for Ingenuity

At the risk of repeating ourselves: The A3 layout competition is meant to be fun!
