Christchurch Model Railway Convention 2010 - April 1st to 5th 2010

Welcome

National conventions are a great New Zealand tradition. Every two years since the late 1960s railway modellers from all over the country have been spending Easter together.

Especially in the South Island it’s an honour to host a convention, and to date Christchurch is the only city south of Cook Strait to have done so. We hosted conventions in 1970, 1980, 1988 and 2000, and will be proud to do so again in 2010.

Like all convention committees we are all volunteers with just one dream—to put together a not-to-be-missed convention. To that end we’ve hired a great venue and sponsored a top international guest. We’re busy finding and grooming the best layouts our city has to offer—and even a few from out of town—and generally putting together the best programme we can. As it all comes together we’re going to tell you about it through this site and through our regular newsletters, you can also email us to join our Mailing list.

You’ll need to keep coming back because in many ways a convention is really a snapshot of the host city’s modelling at that exact time (not to mention some of the best from up and down the country as well). Three months earlier or later and some of the layouts, models and clinics would almost certainly be different—and quite likely different products would be on offer.

Even we won’t know everything there will be to see or do until Easter is almost upon us, so bookmark us and keep popping back for the latest news and updates.

In the meantime or if you’re revisiting, use the menu on the left to go direct to the latest information in each category.
